VaultWrx came to The Zig with a platform that was nearly non-functional. What started as a stabilisation contract evolved into a full rebuild from scratch — and a long-term product partnership that now processes close to half a million dollars in transactions every month.
What Changed
A funeral services marketplace platform that was riddled with bugs and performance issues was first stabilised and then rebuilt entirely from the ground up. The platform now supports over 15 retailers, each processing approximately 700 orders per month, with total monthly transaction volume approaching $500,000. What began as an emergency fix became a multi-year product partnership.
Where They Started
VaultWrx operates a marketplace platform that connects funeral service retailers with consumers. Retailers use the platform to sell caskets, vaults, cremation services, and related funeral products — acting as a third-party layer between service providers and families. When The Zig first engaged with VaultWrx in 2022, the platform was in poor shape: heavily buggy, suffering from performance issues, and nearly non-functional in several critical areas.
What Was Breaking
The platform's instability was undermining the business at every level. Core functionality was unreliable, the user experience for both retailers and consumers was frustrating, and the technical debt accumulated over previous development cycles was making it increasingly difficult to add new features or resolve existing issues. The system could not reliably handle the transaction volumes the business needed to grow.
How The Zig Fixed It
The Zig's engagement with VaultWrx unfolded in two phases. In the first phase, the team revamped the existing website, resolved critical bugs, and added missing functionality including invoice generation and PDF export capabilities. The quality of this work earned The Zig a second contract: a complete rebuild of the platform from scratch, designed to eliminate the lingering performance issues that the original architecture could not support. The rebuild was architected for scalability, reliability, and the ability to onboard increasingly larger retailers without degradation. Development has continued ever since, with weekly feature updates driven directly by retailer feedback.
BEFORE: Nearly non-functional platform, persistent bugs, poor performance, unable to support business growth.
AFTER: Fully rebuilt platform supporting 15+ retailers, ~700 orders/month per retailer, ~$500K in monthly transactions.
What It Unlocked
VaultWrx now operates a stable, scalable marketplace that retailers actively recommend to one another. Larger clients with substantially higher order volumes are being onboarded — something that would have been impossible on the original platform. The business has moved from managing a broken product to growing on a reliable foundation, with The Zig continuing to build features that respond to real retailer needs every week.
What This Taught Us
The best client relationships start with trust earned through delivery. VaultWrx came to us with a broken platform and an urgent need. By solving the immediate problem well, we earned the opportunity to rebuild the entire product, and that rebuild became the foundation for a partnership that continues to grow years later.
